A few weeks ago, I was in charge of organzing a craft night for the women in my church. I wanted to make crafts that would be great gifts for the holidays. All of the crafts were inexpensive and came with pretty packaging and tags. I think they will be perfect little presents for teachers, friends and neighbors.
For the bath salts containers, I used glass jars from Ikea ($2.99 for a set of four). There are many bath salt recipes online, but at the last minute I saw one that petit elefant posted. The recipe is 2 cups of epsom salt, 4 tablespoons of baking soda, and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. I also diluted some food coloring in water and mixed that in as well. I made the grapefruit-scented salts, pale pink and the cucumber melon-scented salts, pale green. Just fill the jar with the salt mixture and add a label for a quick and easy gift!
I ordered the tin containers for the hot chocolate gifts from Paper Mart ($26 for 24 tins). I put about 3/4 cup of hot chocolate mix (any favorite recipe will do) in a cellophane bag and topped it off with some mini marshmallows and a few chocolate chips. I tied the bag with baker's twine and placed the mixture in a tin affixed with a label. Such a simple craft makes a thoughtful gift!
