christmas bookplates
We love reading books about the Christmas season this time of year. I pack them away with the decorations so it's exciting for the kids to have limited access to these special books for the month of December. Angie's friend, Tania, wrote us about a tradition she started with her family. She gives each of her children the same Christmas book each year and includes a bookplate with a short note about the book and her child. By doing this, each of her children will have 18 books to take with them when they are ready to leave home. We love this idea! What a great tradition to start for your family.
A favorite book in our family's holiday book collection is The Night Before Christmas, In Texas That Is. I bought it to commemorate our move to Texas from NYC. Over 50 years after its first printing, this book is still delightful and I love the way it captures the state of Texas! To help you get started on your own Christmas book library, use the bookplate PDF file file we created below. It's our gift to you this holiday season!

Simply Adorable. Great family tradition idea.
Thanks for the bookplate .pdf - cute, cute, cute!
We do a similar tradition... We also give each of our children a new Christmas book on Christmas Eve- and thanks to this great idea, we will start including a book plate with it too. We also give them a new pair of PJ's. Sometimes the book and jammies go with a theme...For example, this year my son is getting a pair of flannel PJ's with polar bears on them and the book "Snow Bears" by Jan Brett.
Thank you for the bookplates! And Merry Christmas -
I love that book and what a great tradition, I'm sure your kids love it! Thanks so much for the bookplate pdf...I think I know what some cousins are going to get for christmas, a book with their name in it!
I love when people sign books they are giving. . . what a fun way to do so. It reminds me of my aunt, who has given me a book with a sweet message inside every year since I was a little one!
Kris, I just ordered this book for a few friends here in TX and am going to print the bookplates. Thanks for such a great idea!
This looks like a great one.
we love our Christmas books, too. It's so fun to unpack them each December.
Merry Christmas!
This is a great idea! I think anything to do with books is great. Another idea I heard of this season was take 24 books, number them 1-24 and wrap them in christmas paper. Then unwrap one a night to read and count down to Christmas.
