winter coat assistance requested

Help! I am in need of an all-purpose, yet chic, winter coat for my 6-year old daughter, Charlotte. I saw this one in the Mini Boden catalogue a month ago when it was 110 degrees outside, and thought, "oh, I'll just order it later". Big mistake – it is now on backorder for 11 weeks, putting its arrival sometime in the middle of December! Ideally, I would like something that is nice enough to wear over dresses but also looks cute over jeans. My beloved Crewcuts does not have anything under $100 (the coats the first daughters wore at the Inauguration are lovely but I cannot bring myself to spend $168 for a child's coat!). There's nothing great at Gap either. Does anyone have a solution for my coat dilemma?

There's always cute clothes at Janie & Jack. My favorite is the Camel Coat. Good luck! Here's the link:

I don't normally gravitate toward pink, but this is one cute coat:

It's not expensive (but shipping might be) and I've loved everything I've ordered from here.

Good luck!

here's a super cheap peacoat from old navy:

I just saw some cute coats on Crazy 8's website that are similar to mini Boden. A green corduroy and brown peacoat that were super cute.

I wish I could help, I love that jacket too and it would be perfect for my 2 year old! One of my gripes with Mini boden is that their stuff sells out extremely fast. I love their clothes though. Very well made and extremely cute!

I don't know if it helps but (in my experience) the waiting times for Boden are over-estimated. If they say 11, I'd guess more like 5. Still, risky, I know...

I live next to a Boden shop in the UK, I could have a look for you to see if they have some in stock and ship it?

I'm with Jenna. I almost always have to wait for the item but have never waited as long as they estimate. Generally half the time, sometimes less. I would hate for this one to be wrong but give it a whirl. You could check out Olive Juice...haven't checkedt to see if they are offering jackets but their clothes are fab.

There are some very cute girl's coats at Old Navy right now. I've got my eye on the dusty pink and brown plaid pea coat once it goes on sale. At $49 full price, though, you can't go wrong.

I found two possibilities at Garnet Hill:
1. Double-Breasted Fleece Jacket $49
2. Signature Wool Coat $99

Hopscotch Designs has adorable coats. I am contemplating one for my six year old.

If you sew, Oliver & S has a great pattern right now:

"School Days Jacket and Coat"

Great design! Would be a great jacket/Coat!!

I am totally overwhelmed by everyone's kindness. Thank you for offering me so many lovely winter coat suggestions. I will have to postpone my decision until early next week – I'm just trying to pack for an extended weekend trip to NYC. I'll let you know what I decide.

A special thanks to "nath" in the U.K. for offering to find the coat for me and ship it. Much much too kind!!!

Thank you for reading our blog. It makes me feel good that so many people care what Kristin and I have to say!

Love, Angie

I have had my eye on this coat from CWDkids for my little girl. Happy Shopping!

MiniBoden's Funky Duffle ($88) and Fleece-lined Anorak ($56) are both outstanding. We've loved both of them; in fact, we are repeat customers with these. Style and quality are both outstanding, and the prices can't be beat. Good luck!
