train party
I've been planning my son's 4th birthday party this week and was reminiscing of past parties. These are photos from James' 2nd birthday. What a difference 2 years makes! I miss my baby boy with chubby cheeks and long blonde hair. But 4 is a good age, too. I'm just not going to let him get any older than that!
We had a train theme for his party that inspired this invitation. He even had monogrammed "James" conductor hat from his grandma (unfortunately I don't have any photos of him wearing it!). The cupcakes were displayed on a white wire stand from Williams-Sonoma.

I made his train cake using this railway cake pan (recipe included) also from Williams-Sonoma. The individual cakes were decorated with orange piping, green candies and paper flags.
The guests played "pin-the-train-on-the-track" and had a scavenger hunt in the yard. There was also a train piñata and the kids made candy trains to take home. Sadly, I don't have photos of the favor bags, but they included wooden train whistles and number "2" cookies. Now back to planning his 4th birthday! Details to come next week...

Cute!
This is ridiculously cute. Will have to share the link on my blog soon...
I wasn't sure which post to add this comment to ~ and these are no where as cute as the cupcakes you make, but thank you for inspiring me to make these http://bit.ly/bAp2HS for a very special 9 year old, being honored today for starting a non-profit called Creative Children for Charity that benefits Seattle Children's Hospital. You can read more about him here: http://bit.ly/5odSuI. Again thanks, I've never thought of making cupcake flags, but now that I'm addicted to your blog, I've finally given in!
So cute! I'm wondering where you found/how you made the pin the train on the track. Thank you!!
