valentine faces
My girls love a good art project and I was inspired by an idea created by my friend, Brooke over at Inchmark.
It all began with a template I drew (click on the link at the bottom of this blog entry for your own). I printed the template on cardstock, cut it on the crop marks and then scored it so it would fold over. My girls then got to work, personalizing each illustration for everyone in their classes.
This is an excellent activity for all ages – even my 3-year old loved it! We found it works best if you use a black pen to draw all the details and then add a bit of color at the end using colored pencils or crayons.
Once the illustrations were complete, we filled pretzel bags with the girls' favorite valentine candy. The bags were the perfect width for the tags but a bit long, in my opinion, so I cut them down a bit and then stapled them at the top. I used double-stick tape to affix the valentine foldover faces to the bag of candy (I didn't want any staple marks to ruin the illustrations). Quite simple and quite darling, if I do say so myself!

Hi! This is a great and cute idea for my son and his 3rd grade class!! We will try this for the upcoming holiday. I like the idea of personalizing each card with a drawing. And the jelly beans look so festive! Thank you!

Thank you so much for sharing this & for giving us the cards to print. My girls loved coloring them in & I thought it was a darling idea. Thanks for sharing all your ideas!
This art project is so cute and creative. It was easy so that even little kid's can do that. I think it makes fun for them.
Fantastic, love the style on these and the image you have are really well shot also. Been looking at your other posts and I really like the layout and look, keep it as I will be returning
What a cute idea! I know it's too late for Valentines but I think this would be great for Halloween too :) Same idea but with spooky drawings instead. Like a Jack-o-lantern or a witch. It would be sooooo cool.
Very nice and adorable creation. It is always a very great idea to let our kids to express their talents and always support them.
