80's-themed birthday

My oldest daughter, Charlotte, turned 9 last month. To celebrate, I threw an 80's-themed party at a local frozen yogurt shop. It was the perfect venue for the tween set: all-you-can-eat frozen yogurt and unlimited arcade games.... what could be better?

I love the tradition of taking a photo of each of my children on their birthdays with a number sign. I honestly can't believe that I have a 9-year old! Where does the time go???

We filled jars with various candies and the guests had fun trying to guess the amount in each. The winners took home the loot. I knew the oversized jars I keep collecting would come in handy for something!

I designed an "All About Charlotte" multiple choice quiz which her friends had fun trying to answer.

We also played multiple rounds of Bingo which was a huge hit. I found a cute vintage Bingo set here.

To fit our 80's theme, I designed a Ms. Pacman cake. I made my favorite yellow cake and baked it in a jellyroll pan. I then cut out a circle, using an inverted metal bowl as a guide. The entire cake was frosted with my favorite cream cheese frosting.

Coordinating water bottle labels were a finishing detail.

Thanks for posting Angie. This is so cute, as always. Can't believe you have a nine year old either. My how the time passes so quickly. (That's not what Jilly says.)

Congrats! Power on, you guys are truly filling a void. I'm sure that there will be much more recognition to come for your awesome work.

This party is sticking with the theme although I am not sure what it is specifically. But everything looks great and orderly.

Seems that kids really enjoy their day. It's very nice to know that they love what they are doing.

Absolutely ADORE the illustrations and designs of the invites and the stationery!

The concept of birthday party depends on the host and if agreed by the celebrant.Whatever style and concept it maybe the most important thing is that the celebrant enjoy and it make the day so memorable.

Hi there,
I used to work at Martha Stewart Living way back when also! (Late 90's-2002)

I am really in love with your blog - what wonderful crafts and memories you are making!

My two children and I are making your Valentine's Day faces this afternoon.
So sweet.

We currently are living in Bermuda, where there is a dearth of crafting, so it is lovely to try to replicate some of what you have done.

Quick question:
My daughter's birthday is on Valentine's Day and I would love to have the "All About Olivia" quiz. How can I create that? Or, is it something I can purchase from you?

Many thanks,
Jennifer
